The Just-a-Tube™ or Just-a-Plate™ 96 Virus RNA/DNA
Isolation Kit is designed and optimized for highly sensitive, easy, fast and
high-throughput isolation of high-quality virus nucleic acid from cell-free biological fluids such as plasma,
serum, and CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) as well as cell culture supernatant. No silica membrane, filter plate, or magnetic beads
are needed and no
phenol, chloroform, or other organic solvents are required in the process. Based on charm biotech developed Solid
Surface Reversible Binding (SSRB) technology (patent pending), Just-a-Tube/Just-a-plate system employs the solid micro-tube or 96-well plate
surface coated with proprietary turbo-binders as selective nucleic acid
capturers to efficiently extract virus RNA and DNA from cell-free liquid
samples. Virus
nucleic acid molecules can specifically interact with the turbo binder in the
extraction buffer, while proteins and other contaminants are not bound and
remain in the solution. After washing the plate with washing buffer to
remove unbound material, the purified viral RNA and DNA can be either easily
eluted in 10 mM Tris Elution Buffer or water, or used directly for viral
detection and quantification, such as qPCR on the same tube/plate without elution
The novel Just-a-Plate kit eliminates usage of carrier RNA for viral nucleic
acid extraction, which is usually used in the conventional silica membrane
absorption methods, making downstream detection and applications completely
without interferences associated with co-purified carrier RNA. Since no silica membrane and beads have been used in the
tube/plate, there are no dead spaces and sample trapping problems related with
membrane or bead-based column or plate methods. These features not only allow
fast buffer washing and easy sample elution, but also provide the maximum
sample recovery, which is extremely important when the sample amount is limit
and there is no room for any sample loss, such as serum or plasma sample with
ultra-low-titer virus.
